The aims of the charity are to provide funding for building projects, medical equipment and introduce volunteers to the hospital in response to the needs of the hospital. The hospital welcomes all volunteers including medical and nursing professionals. There are also opportunities for medical elective programmes at the hospital.
We work in close partnership with Kamuli Mission Hospital to ensure the money raised gets spent appropriately. We aim to fund projects which are sustainable and benefit the needs of the whole community that the hospital serves.
This charity was formed in 2012 by Dr Philip Unwin to formalise donations to the hospital. Since its formation the charity has been able to fund the building of new nurses accommodation and a new guest house with thanks to the Mosawi foundation. We have also contributed towards the renovation of the maternity ward and the building of a covered walkway.
In 2014, the charity developed to provide a portal for volunteers interested in helping in Kamuli. These volunteers include long term volunteers for up to 6 months and shorter term specialist volunteers who offer teaching and training. KamuliFriends supports a rotary international training programme which delivers emergency obstetric and paediatric teaching to the healthcare professionals at the hospital and the wider community.
Collin Sekajugo, a renowned visual artist came to the hospital with a team of four young artists to paint colourful murals on the hospital walls to help brighten up the very dark wards.
The wonderful artwork was well received by both patients and staff. We hope you agree they look fantastic!
